Its energetic studio is home to a creative professional group passionate about design and craftsmanship. Specializing in estate master planning, custom swimming pools, and unique watershapes, Design Ecology / Design Aquatics offers a full range of residential and commercial landscape architectural design and construction services. They tailor each project to create thoughtful, sustainable, award-winning spaces that exceed client expectations.
As Partner & Principal Landscape Architect for Design Ecology, Scott takes responsibility for every design produced. He works very closely with associate designers & clients to ensure that all plans fully address the unique challenges of each individual project.
Scott has a broad range of experience with residential and commercial projects ranging from private estate master planning to streetscapes, parks & botanic gardens. A graduate of Mississippi State University’s Landscape Architecture program Scott has a formal education rooted in the principles of design. He brings Over 18 years of professional experience to the firm, specializing in swimming pool and water feature design & construction.
As Partner and Director of Construction, Benjamin is responsible for bringing Design Ecology’s designs to life. He oversees all construction projects from planning to completion while managing a skilled team of craftsmen to provide unparalleled attention to detail.
After earning his B.S. in Horticulture at Texas A&M Benjamin gained valuable experience working as Assistant Superintendent on one of the nation’s top resort golf courses. He moved on to manage the construction division of a landscape architecture firm for 4 years where he built luxury estate landscapes and pools. Benjamin opened his own landscape design and construction company in early 2009 & joined with Scott in 2010 to form Design Ecology.
Associate designer Brittany Duncan is a licensed Landscape Architect from Las Vegas, Nevada.
She holds a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Colorado as well as a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri. In 2018, she completed an independent study in coordination with Tongji University in Shanghai, China, where she developed her hand-rendering skills by sketching both contemporary and classical Chinese gardens.
Brittany’s passion for travelling and background in journalism give her a unique perspective when it comes to design. She begins each project with extensive site research, developing a narrative approach to the landscape while collaborating with clients to tell their story within the final design.
She joined our team in the summer of 2020, bringing 10 years of design experience in various fields, including print and digital design, as well as commercial and residential landscape design. Her ability to communicate graphically and interpret client goals make her a valuable asset to Design Ecology.
Associate designer Jason Armour graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelors in Landscape Architecture in 2009.
As designer and project manager for two residential Design-Build firms in Chicago that specialized landscape and swimming pool design and construction, he developed a solid foundation and understanding of both the design and construction process.
In the summer of 2017 he came to Austin to join the Design Ecology Team, bringing 8 years of experience his passion for nature and design. His ability to combine traditional and modern technique to bring a client’s visions to life make him a valuable addition to our team.
Zack Brewer holds a BS in Agriculture from Texas State University with a teaching certificate. He taught power systems and advanced welding prior joining Design Ecology. Zack’s extensive experience with mechanical systems helps to ensure that our pool mechanical systems operate to optimum efficiency and functionality.
